Book #1 from the series: Shadow Voyager Trilogy

Shadow Voyager

Whispers of the Veil

About

Abigail’s secret is her greatest curse. Or so she thinks…

For seventeen years, she has spent her sleeping hours on the outskirts of a menacing realm with red-eyed beasts held at bay by an infinite, impenetrable wall.

But that’s only the beginning.

A mysterious shift causes Abigail to wander through the wall, and into the Land of the Dead where she is followed home by a hooded, skeletal figure that only she has the ability to see.

Thrust into a reality where monsters and magic abound, she must unravel ancestral secrets, navigate ancient prophecies, and face her greatest fears in order to survive in a world where powerful forces won’t rest until she’s dead.

Praise for this book

Okay all I have to say starting out is I LOVED this book. I loved how different aspects like Greek gods and then Christianity were incorporated so seamlessly. The moody MMC and the golden retriever MMC contrast was epic. Then the FMC was so relatable to how my thought process is that I found this very comforting and enjoyable. I would definitely recommend this to my friends and family to read!

WOW! I loved this book.
I love the emotional and personal journey that Abigail goes through. Her experience coming to terms with her place in the Realms and finding the beauty in a land meant to torment her is amazing. She learns to be confident and to trust herself, while also learning that she herself is not a burden to others and that maybe, just maybe, its okay to let others into her life.

I was also struck by the themes of choice/ freewill and fate/destiny that filled her story. She is destined to fulfill a great prophecy, but she fights against it, not willing to just let destiny control her life. Then we have the blatant differences between Aaron and Thanatos, one who believes in fate, and another who believes in choices. And throughout the story we see how fate and freewill may work together.

The worldbuilding was phenomenal, letting the reader discover more about the shadow realm as Abigail learns more about it. It has this really cool blend of Grecian lore, i.e. Thanatos, the river Styxs; as well as drawing on concepts of Christianity, i.e. demons, heaven/hell. These ideas blend together so nicely to create its own mysterious realm.

I cannot wait for the next book in this series and to see more of Sharon Garrison’s work.

“She was simply Abigail. The equivalent of the sky opening after an eclipse. An ember catching fire and illuminating my world of night. She was all that I never knew I desired. All that my cursed, traitorous soul now burned for . . . “And everything that I can never have.””
……………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………
Wow. Where do I begin with this masterpiece?? Shadow Voyager by Sharon Garrison is the first book in a series where the battle between light and darkness rages on, mysteries lurk underneath every surface, and nothing is as it seems. The story follows Abigail, our female lead who has been plagued by the unnatural ability to see paranormal creatures since she could remember. When she sleeps, she is whisked away into a world far different from her own, where she encounters uncharted dangers and begins to unravel the truth about her abilities while facing obstacles at every turn. Aided by a very hot, morally gray, tall dark and skeletal being, and an unlikely golden retriever ally, she sets in motion a series of events that is beyond anything she could fathom, and everything her enemies feared.
From beginning to end, this book thrilled me, captivated me and the entire journey felt like the best dream you never want to wake from. (Especially when there’s a handsome warden of souls lurking in the shadows behind you 😉).
